Training for Medical & Dental Professionals
There is good evidence suggesting that a large number of malpractice cases are rooted in discourtesy and bad behavior on the part of the physician, hospital and/or office staff. Therefore, social skills training for physicians and staff can be invaluable.
Professional Courtesy offers a variety of seminars that are tailored to specific clinical needs as well as general information on patient privacy issues, contemporary medical/dental office attire, telephone etiquette and more.
Because of the sophisticated technological advances used in medical/dental practice today, it may be necessary to rethink how to maintain personal contact with patients. The following presentations provide information for medical/dental staff that will establish a supportive and respectful medical/dental environment for patients.
Karen is available for virtual training as well as one-on-one sessions.

Karen Hickman has been an invaluable resource to our organization for over 10 years in providing education and training throughout our hospitals and physician offices. Karen has coached leaders from the C-suite to supervisors, physicians, and co-workers. Karen’s impact reaches across 11,000 coworkers, 700 providers, and 500 leaders. Whether it is a train-the-trainer program, one-on-one coaching, department meetings, leadership development days, Karen connects the importance of manners and etiquette in a professional healthcare setting.
I had the pleasure of attending Karen Hickman’s presentation on Medical Professional Training/Compassion in Medicine at the Organization of Facial Plastic Surgery Assistants (OFPSA) section of the American Academy of Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) fall meeting in Los Angeles, CA. Karen’s presentation was professional, very organized and to the point.
The content of her presentation addresses the importance and lack of etiquette in medical offices today. We have forgotten how to treat our patients as we would want to be treated…as a person and with compassion.
Any medical office would benefit immensely from attending her unique presentation and implementing her ideas
